Industrial Modems: Making the integration of telemetry and control simple and seamless
The demand for remote control and low cost fault messaging systems applied to automation or remote facility management has grown rapidly. Mitsubishi Electric Europe has addressed this need through telemetry solutions based on a range of powerful Industrial Modems and management software.
There are two different types of Mitsubishi Industrial Modem: Intelligent Modems (MAM) and Standard Modems (MIM). Each type has models for connection to an analog Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) or a Global System for Mobile Telecommunication (GSM).
These new Industrial Modems are designed to be flexible and easy to use offering a simple RS232, RS422 or RS485 connection to the target device. Selected models even have Mitsubishi PLC protocols built in as standard making the integration of telemetry and control simple and seamless. |

The innovating and versatile A.R.M. radio modems are available in RS232/RS485, Ethernet versions including also digital and analog I/Os. The radio transmission uses the license-free ISM bands: 433MHz and 868MHz (2.4GHz soon).
The radio channel and the transmission power can be set thanks to coding wheels or by software. The A.R.M. series stands out with its excellent sensibility in reception which enables link range from 1 to 2 km in 10mW and from 5 to 10 km in 500mW.
Easy to install, the A.R.M. series operates by default in transparent mode but can also be configured by using Hayes commands or Windows-based "A.R.M. Manager" utility in different modes: securized, repeater, Modbus protocol or mirror.
The firmware includes most of all the current features required for radio transmission applications. The extension modules provide extra I/Os for customized radio modem.
The A.R.M. series is built in a compact metal case for DIN rail and powered in 10-30 Vdc.
Some examples of common applications: travelling crane, crane collision avoidance, conveyors, mobile robot, weather stations, racing circuit telemetry, GPS transmission, display panels, access control terminal, etc...

Embedded low power radio modem
The embedded low power radio modem MU-1-R is a radio modem for transmission of serial data. Using a simple system of commands, the user can concentrate on designing the transmitting and receiving protocols for the data using the commands, without needing to be aware of the radio component control.
By using a UART interface for transmitting and receiving data and for issuing commands, it is possible for the user to develop systems quickly.
The MU-1-R meets the requirements of the European R&TTE Directive and carries the CE mark. |

The UHF Radio Packet Modem (RPM3) is a low cost intelligent radio packet modem that enables a two way radio network/link to be simply implemented between a number of digital devices.
The RPM3 uses addressable data packets with error checking, packet acknowledgements and retransmissions to achieve a reliable transparent wireless data link.
Built for ease of use and rapid installation, the serial interface ensures direct connection to microprocessors or to RS232 port via RS232 driver while remote configuration enables post installation setup of the modem. |

Brodersen’s I/O Series Radio Modules feature electrically isolated on-off and analogue I/Os. The standard version has 16 on-off inputs, 8 on-off outputs, 4AI with 12-bit resolution, 8 event counters and 8 time totalisers. Up to 16 expansion modules, each with multiple I/O, can be added to a radio RTU base module, to implement flexible on-off and analogue I/O configurations.
If you require wireless communication between your SCADA system, remote RTUs and PLCs, Brodersen’s Data Radios is an obvious choice. They support most industrial serial communication protocols such as ModbusRTU, Modnet-1F, 3964R, ASCII, transparent data transfer and IEC60870. They are based on an open platform and have been integrated into networks with equipment from many different manufacturers.
The Brodersen Communication Master can easily handle a complete radio system including I/O radios. It includes a complete data base accessible via standard Modbus. The database directly reflects the complete radio system and is easy to configure. In addition, it supports repeater handling as all serial and I/O radios support repeater functions and any radio can be set up to be a repeater. This is suitable for daisy-chain applications such as pipe-line monitoring and long distance applications.
