Timing pulleys are used when a system needs to deliver precise positioning accuracy or repeatability. Timing elements help to control belt creep in a typical belt system.
Belt Technologies, Inc. features two types of timing pulleys.
Type I Timing features a timing element which protrudes from the surface of the pulley, and engages in a belt perforation.
Type II Timing incorporates a timing pocket into the pulley, which engages with a physical component on the inner circumference of the metal belt.
Design Considerations for timing pulleys include material type, tape support diameter, and pulley type.
Timing Belt Pulleys are available in the following types:
- XL 1/5" pitch
- L 3/8" pitch
- HTD 3mm, 5mm, 8mm pitch
- Custom Design Pulleys
- Molded high strength, glass reinforced nylon
- All nylon or with aluminum hubs
- Strong, accurate, lightweight, quiet running
- Single or double flange
- Set screw(s) and keyway(s)
