Hydrolab's Self-Cleaning Turbidity sensor measures from 0 to 3000 NTU and includes a user-programmable cleaning system to remove any fouling or debris that could otherwise affect readings.
Features:
- ISO 7027 compliant
- User-programmable self-cleaning system can perform up to 10 cleaning cycles before each reading
- Accurately measures up to 3000 NTU
Benefits:
- Fixed parking position ensures consistent data collection after each cleaning cycle
- 3000 NTU range allows Turbidity tracking even during rain storms or other events that could cause abnormally high readings
- Exceptional linearity even in high NTU environments
- Utilizes small aperture technique to reduce false readings from particulates and other debris

Turbidity measurements provide data on the concentration of undissolved, suspended particles present in a liquid phase. The determined particle concentration is used for process monitoring and optimization e.g. to control biomass growth, crystallization and filtration processes or concentration measurement of solid matters in wastewater.
Two optical turbidity measurement solutions are available: one is based on the backscattered light technology and the other one on the forward/90° scattered light technology. The first takes advantage of fibre optic technology for full compatibility with METTLER TOLEDO process housings. The second is available in a big variety of flow-through housings for direct pipe installations.

The turbidity sensor uses a combination of transmission and 90° scattering in a flow-through system. The two photodetectors for scattered and transmitted light and the light source (IR-LED) are situated in a flow-through system made of stainless steel (V4A).
It can be used to determine the turbidity of fresh water and seawater or other liquids and is designed to be part of a flow-system that is optimised for water quality monitoring.
The sensor can be modified to the customer's needs regarding measuring range and accuracy. The response time is less than 5 seconds. The turbidity sensor provides the sensitivity, accuracy and long-term stability required for the continuous measurement of turbidity in estuaries and lagoons.

The presence of free water in hydraulic fluids results in turbidity, impeding the proper function of the entire system and reducing the service life of the hydraulic fluid and of the circuit components. The PiT 400 sensor has been designed to identify the ingress of water in a circuit, rapidly and reliably. The PiT 400 can be applied in all fluid-based circuits where there is a risk of contamination by water.
