ApplicationsLinear encoders can be found in many automation applications. In metrology, they are used in digital calipers and on coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). Fully enclosed linear encoders can be mounted on milling machines to give position feedback. In the electronics manufacturing industry, linear encoders provide position feedback for PCB assembly machines.
