The Microchip RE46C400 is a low-power smoke detector Analog Front End (AFE) intended for panel-based applications. The AFE provides all the needed analog, interface and power regulation functions for a microcontroller-(MCU) based multicriteria smoke detector. The RE46C400 is capable of meeting UL 268 7th Edition specifications, and can be easily adapted to a routinely changing regulatory environment with its programmable design and rich feature set. It includes an integrating amplifier for photodiode current sensing, two independently regulated sink drivers for IR and Blue LED emitters, CO/Toxic Gas detection, and a 3.3V regulator to power the MCU. The integrating photo amplifier offers lower power consumption over a traditional trans-impedance amplifier design, an advantage in both panel-based and battery powered applications.
