Overview
The SATO-170 AVC/OSC open-head orbital TIG weld head is designed for welding large-diameter tubes with outer diameters from 1 to 6.625" (25–170 mm). Intended for heavy industrial environments such as refineries, power plants and large process piping where weld repeatability and controlled results are required. The unit supports a wide range of materials including high-alloy steels and exotic metals.

Performance and design
Integrated AVC maintains a constant electrode-to-tube distance by automatically regulating arc length and voltage. Motorized OSC provides axial electrode sweep ±10 mm to distribute heat evenly and support multi-pass, thick-wall welding. Liquid-cooled 200 A capacity with 100% duty cycle enables continuous operation in shop or field conditions. Compact rotation sweep and a fast, secure clamping system reduce setup time and improve access in restricted areas. Compatible with SAXX power sources.
