OverviewThe SATO-220 AVC/OSC open-head orbital TIG welding head is designed for welding large-diameter tubes and pipes with OD from 1.5 to 8.625 in / 38–220 mm. Intended for oil & gas, power generation and heavy fabrication, the open-head configuration allows access in complex geometries and confined jobsite conditions. The system integrates Automatic Voltage Control (AVC) and axial oscillation (OSC) to support repeatable multi-pass TIG welds on thick-wall joints. The AVC maintains a constant electrode-to-work distance while OSC provides controlled axial movement to improve bead uniformity and penetration. The unit is liquid-cooled and rated 200 A for continuous operation.
