Description

Overview
Assembly lines are combinations of individual assembly workplaces or work areas that map successive assembly and process steps in production. Operators assemble single parts, product sections or subassemblies in successive steps. Assembly lines structure production, connect operators and machines and support lean concepts such as one-piece flow.

Various designs
  • Classic manufacturing, production and assembly lines
  • Assembly lines with direct machine interfaces
  • U‑cells
  • ESD production lines
  • Height‑adjustable assembly lines

Benefits of modular assembly lines
Modular assembly lines can be expanded as output increases and combined with flow racks, roller/conveyor systems or mobile robots to ensure seamless material supply and a high degree of automation. Benefits include reduced throughput times, increased productivity and the possibility to implement one‑piece flow for continuous production and fast reaction to errors.

Components of a modular assembly line
Modular pipe and square systems form the basis for flexible and mobile assembly lines. In combination with panels, LED workstation lighting and lifting systems, ergonomically optimized workstations and complete lines are realised. Additional accessories support tool provision and information display.

Design tools
BEEVisio (3D software) provides direct access to individual components for planning and enables fast design of tailored assembly solutions.

Planning considerations (high-level)
  • Integrate material supply (docking racking solutions and infeed sections to reduce walking distances).
  • Integrate roller tracks (UR roller tracks for guided movement and heavy loads).
  • Consider mobile assembly lines using castors for relocation without dismantling.
  • Choose adapted work surfaces (soft plastic, rubber, stainless‑steel covering or ESD‑conductive panels depending on the application).

Technical characteristics / specifications
  • Modular construction based on pipe racking systems (steel) and square pipe systems (aluminium and steel)
  • Worktop options: multiplex/pressboard surfaces, stainless‑steel‑encased worktops, soft plastic or rubber‑covered surfaces, ESD‑conductive work panels
  • Material supply and storage: flow racks, integrated infeed sections, KLT container shelves and storage view boxes
  • Conveying elements: roller conveyors, FIFO roller conveyors, recessed/embedded roller tracks in worktops
  • Roller tracks: UR roller tracks for multi‑directional guidance and movement of heavy components
  • Lighting: ergonomic workstation lighting (BEEWaTec LED solutions) mounted on frames or pipes
  • Lifting systems: hydraulic and height‑adjustable lifting technology for ergonomic alignment of workplaces
  • Mobility: castors and installation support options for mobile assembly stations
  • Accessories: perforated plates for tool provision, magnetic boards, swivelling shelves, monitor holders, tool/beverage holders
  • Suitable for automation integration: direct machine connections, combination with conveyor lines and mobile robots to achieve lean one‑piece flow
  • Design flexibility: individual customisation up to fully automated assembly lines; modular expansion capability
