Description

Overview
BERG KOMPBERG® BSDF screw compressors cover 18.5–250 kW and are built on the BSD platform. BSDF models combine variable-speed drive, a large slow-running air end, an energy-saving CMC controller and German-brand inverters (commonly Siemens) to provide regulated output over the full control range. Direct 1:1 drive reduces component count and transmission losses. Units are designed for full maintainability and lower sound levels.

Master controller (RC / RC-S)
The optional BERG RC/RC-S master controller handles start/stop of compressor groups, pressure control, optimal load distribution, leader selection and threshold settings. Remote monitoring is available via web interface and Modbus (TCP/RTU) where supported.

Key features
  • Frequency control (variable speed) for energy-adaptive operation (energy savings up to ~35% depending on installation).
  • Direct drive 1:1 (no gearbox) to minimise transmission losses and reduce parts count.
  • Large low-speed air end for improved efficiency and service life.
  • Energy-saving CMC controller and German inverters; Siemens motors/controllers commonly used.
  • Designed for 100% maintainability with accessible service doors and reduced moving parts.
  • Lower noise levels due to low-speed direct-drive design; larger units use centrifugal/high-efficiency cooling fans.
  • Oil-injected variants for sealing and durability; integrated refrigeration dryer optional on some models.

Applications
  • Manufacturing: supply for production lines and machine tools.
  • Mechanical engineering: powering manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Food production: hygienic compressed air applications (select appropriate configurations).
  • Healthcare: medical compressed air supply for hospitals and clinics (use oil-free variants where required).
  • Automotive: painting, pneumatic tools and assembly processes.

How rotary screw compressors work
Two intermeshing rotors rotate in opposite directions inside a casing. Air is drawn in and compressed continuously in the inter-rotor space, providing a steady supply. Variable-speed control adjusts output to demand for improved energy efficiency.
