Overview
BERG Kompressoren KOMPBERG® ZXF and ZWF are oil-free screw compressor ranges designed for applications requiring 100% oil-free compressed air. ZXF are two-stage, air-cooled units; ZWF are water-injected units where water replaces oil for cooling, sealing and lubrication to deliver oil-free air and near-isothermal compression.

What is an oil-free screw compressor?
An oil-free screw compressor operates without oil in the compression chamber. This is achieved either by using specially coated rotors and engineered clearances (air-cooled designs) or by injecting water into the compression chamber to provide lubrication and cooling (water-injected designs). Oil-free compressors are used where oil contamination is unacceptable.

How do oil-free and water-injected screw compressors work?
Air-cooled oil-free designs rely on special materials, coatings and precise rotor clearances to avoid metal-to-metal contact. Water-injected designs introduce water into the compression chamber to form a sealing and cooling medium that prevents oil use and reduces temperature rise during compression.
