Description

Description
A high‑pressure booster compressor designed to increase the pressure of pre‑compressed air. Typical applications include processes requiring very high discharge pressures (e.g. PET bottle production, laser technology, test benches). The KOMPBERG® BKB boosters are provided with an oil filter and a final cooler and are intended for industrial high‑pressure applications.

Technical description
The KOMPBERG® BKB booster compressors raise the suction‑side pressure (typically 1.0–1.3 MPa depending on model) to discharge pressures of 2.5–4.0 MPa. The unit includes an oil filter and a final air cooler. The booster consists of an oil‑lubricated piston compressor with cylinders arranged in a V configuration (90°). The compressor is driven by an electric motor via a belt transmission. A common frame supports the compressor, motor and air cooler with fans and filters.

The compressor
One‑stage, two‑cylinder V (90°) layout. Cast‑iron crankcase with lower part serving as oil sump integrating the oil suction filter (mounted on the oil pump). Working valves mounted on the heads and adjusted by screws via pressure sleeves. Cylinders and heads are finned for effective heat dissipation. Nodular cast iron crankshaft supported on roller bearings; oil pump driven from the shaft. Connecting rods with two‑part bushings mounted on hardened journals.

Electric motor
Squirrel‑cage induction motor driving the compressor via belt. Designed for intermittent operation, maximum 20 starts per hour.

Final cooler
Final cooler composed of vertical steel tube‑and‑fin elements connected by horizontal collectors; welded construction. Valves for condensate drainage and a solenoid relief valve are provided in the upper collectors. Air circulation is forced by a fan driven by an electric motor.

Chassis
Plate chassis on which motor and compressor are mounted; the assembly rests on four vibration dampers.

Important information
  • Follow the instructions in the manual and the warranty book.
  • Technical and operational inspections must be performed by the manufacturer or an authorised service using appropriate parts and consumables.
  • During the warranty period, use only original parts and consumables from the manufacturer.

Transport and installation conditions
  • Use certified lifting equipment; secure rotating parts before lifting; do not remain in the danger area during lifting.
  • Transport on secured wooden pallets; strap the frame to prevent sliding or tipping.
  • All threaded connections and fittings must be sized appropriately and designed for the operating pressure.
  • The compressor is not intended for outdoor use; install indoors in a cool, clean location with unobstructed intake and discharge air.
  • Ensure sufficient cooling airflow and evacuate hot air from the room.
  • Suction air must not contain flammable vapours or gases.
  • No objects that could be sucked in should be placed near the air inlet.
  • Pressure piping must allow free thermal expansion and must not contact hot or flammable materials.
