The GEO 501 is a high-performance drilling rig engineered for geothermal and water well drilling applications using down-the-hole hammer (DTH) drilling methodologies
It can also be used for horizontal drilling, thanks to the mast articulation that allows a 90° rotation. Developed to maximize drilling efficiency in hard rock geothermal applications, the GEO 501 features increased engine power and enhanced hydraulic capacity compared to the GEO 500, allowing higher rotary torque and improved simultaneous operation of drilling functions. This additional hydraulic power contributes to increased drilling productivity and optimized performance in demanding ground conditions. The rig can be configured with a wide range of dedicated DTH drilling accessories for geothermal applications, including Odex cuttings diverters, working table with double sliding key, dust collector, and integrated welder/generator units, supporting efficient casing advancement and continuous drilling operations. Thanks to its onboard rod racks, the rig can be mobilized to site carrying the required drilling tools and rods. To ensure greater stability even on uneven or sloping ground conditions, the machine is equipped as standard with an oscillating crawler undercarriage. It can also be fitted with Comacchio’s radio remote control system to increase safety and operational flexibility. Thanks to its combination of compact dimensions, high hydraulic performance and application-focused design, the GEO 501 is particularly suited for geothermal drilling contractors operating in hard rock formations and intensive energy well drilling programs
