OverviewCompact DIN-rail solar tracker controller for single-axis (horizontal or tilted) or dual-axis installations. Can operate autonomously as a stand-alone tracker or be integrated with building automation via DomBus or Modbus. Supplied with a waterproof deep-hole sunlight sensor; motors and power supply not included.
Why DomBusTracker2?- Flexible configuration: dual-axis, single horizontal (N–S) or single tilted (E–W) axis.
- Operates stand-alone or under automation (Domoticz via DomBus, Home Assistant/Node-RED/OpenHAB/ioBroker via DomBusGateway and MQTT AutoDiscovery, or Modbus systems).
- Deep-hole 4-photodetector waterproof sensor for reliable tracking in cloudy conditions.
- Industrial RS485 bus wiring for long runs and multi-device installations.
- Very low standby consumption (approx. 15 mW with relays OFF).
Main Features- 4 × SPDT 10A relays to drive two linear actuators (typical actuators up to ~800 kgf); compatible with 24 V (preferred) or 12 V supply.
- Optional 15A variant for higher-power actuators or slewing motors.
- Current sensing to detect actuator internal limit switches and determine end positions.
- 4 inputs for external limit/proximity sensors (powered on-demand), plus 2 twinbutton inputs for manual UP/DOWN and 1 input to disable automatic tracking.
- Dedicated Wind input supporting analog voltage (0–3/3.8/5 V) or pulsed outputs; supports input filtering for pulsed anemometers.
- 2 × 5A auxiliary relays for additional functions.
- RS485 bus terminating resistor selectable by PCB jumper; recommended shielded twisted-pair cable for long distances.
- DIN-rail low-profile enclosure, 115 × 90 × 40 mm; plug-in terminal blocks for straightforward wiring.
- Parameters configurable via RS485 for adaptation to most tracker systems; available firmwares: DomBus (multi-master) and Modbus RTU.
Tracker status and integration- Exposes detailed status to automation: Cloudy, Automatic (idle/moving), Manual (idle/moving), Evening, Night, Morning, Wind alert/safe position, etc.
- Remote control supported (set elevation/azimuth); local manual buttons and mode switch also supported.
Behavior and safety- Periodic sun checks with configurable intervals and cloudy thresholds to reduce unnecessary movements.
- Configurable night/morning positions and timeouts; moves to night position when light drops below threshold.
- Anemometer-triggered wind-safe procedure: saves current position, moves panels to configured safe position and restores after configured recovery time.
- Optional solderable buzzer for manual or wind alerts (configurable and can be disabled).
LED and Buzzer indicatorsGreen LED patterns indicate night, cloudy, automatic tracking and motor moving states; red LED indicates manual or wind-safe conditions. Optional buzzer provides 1 beep for manual mode and 2 beeps for wind alert (configurable/disableable).
Sensor & Anemometer notes- Wind input accepts analog voltages (0–3/3.8/5 V) or pulsed outputs (reed/NPN). For pulsed anemometers a 100–220 µF capacitor between Wind and GND may be recommended to filter spikes for voltage-generator types.
- Wind speed can alternatively be provided centrally via automation by writing the wind register/entity for each tracker (useful for farms with many units).
Ports overview (summary)- Outputs: 4 relays for motors (MN/MS for NS tilt; ME/MW for EW azimuth) plus 2 auxiliary relays (RL5, RL6).
- Analog inputs: 4 light sensor channels (N, S, E, W) and motor current sensing for NS and EW.
- Wind input: IN_ANALOG or IN_COUNTER depending on anemometer type.
- Manual inputs: IN_TWINBUTTON for UP/DOWN, digital input to disable automatic mode, 4 inputs for limit/proximity sensors.
- Virtual/custom items: NS/EW deviation bars, Pns/Pew position bars, Man (auto/manual), Buzz, TrackerState.
Why use a tracker?Tracking increases photovoltaic yield, especially in early morning and late afternoon. Dual-axis configurations deliver the highest daily energy gain compared with fixed installations in many conditions.
Compatibility and configuration- DomBus firmware: multi-master DomBus protocol for low-latency integration with Domoticz; DomBusGateway bridges DomBus to MQTT/AutoDiscovery for Home Assistant, Node-RED, OpenHAB, ioBroker.
- Modbus firmware: standard Modbus RTU compatible with common Modbus masters and tools.
- Configurable registers/parameters: TrackerType, working times, night/morning/wind positions, periodic checks, cloudy thresholds, sensor minima, homing and current-sensing thresholds, proximity enable, and more.
Included / Not included- Included: waterproof deep-hole sunlight sensor.
- Not included: linear actuators / slewing motors, power supply (24 V preferred, 12 V supported), external proximity sensors, anemometer.
