Overview
Stainless steel continuous-operation ATEX Cabinet Cooler® Systems are engineered and ATEX‑approved for use on purged electrical enclosures in Zone 2 and Zone 22 hazardous areas. These systems use vortex-tube technology to convert compressed air into cold air, delivering a low-maintenance cooling and purge solution with no moving parts. Continuous-operation units provide constant cooling and a continuous positive purge. Systems include a 5‑micron water‑and‑dirt filter separator and a cold air distribution kit to direct airflow to circulate or target hot spots. A low‑pressure relief valve closes when the cooler is off to preserve NEMA 4X (IP66) enclosure integrity.

How it works
Compressed air enters the vortex‑tube-powered Cabinet Cooler and splits into a cold stream and a hot stream. The cold air is routed into the control enclosure via the cold air distribution kit while the hot air is exhausted externally. The system cools and purges the enclosure with clean, cooled air without allowing ambient air to enter the panel.

Other considerations

• Filtration: Systems include a 5‑micron automatic‑drain water‑and‑dirt filter separator to prevent condensate and dirt from entering the enclosure. For oil contamination, add a coalescing filter.
• Cold Air Distribution Kit: Contains flexible tubing, connectors and adhesive clips to direct cold air for circulation or to hot spots.
• Humidity: Continuous units stabilize internal relative humidity at approximately 45% if the enclosure is sealed to prevent condensation.
• Inlet Air Temperature & Pressure: Typical temperature drop is ~54°F (30°C) from supply air at 100 PSIG (6.9 BAR). Higher inlet temperatures or lower supply pressures reduce cooling capacity.
• Mounting: Mounts through a standard electrical knockout (1‑1/2 NPS). Side mount kits available when top mounting is not possible; NEMA 4/4X integrity is maintained.
• Thermostat & Solenoid Option: Thermostatic models include an ATEX‑certified solenoid valve and thermostat for efficient control; continuous models include the cooler, filter separator and cold air distribution kit.
