Overview
Precision and operator comfort for industrial thicknessing. The FORMAT4 exact 51 thickness planer is designed for accurate, repeatable planing with a robust cutterblock and wide range of options to adapt the machine to production needs. Standard equipment includes a spring-loaded segmented outfeed pressure bar and variable feed speed; many optional components are available such as segmented infeed roller, rubber-coated rollers and below-table rollers.

Planer design & operation details
Infeed rollers are float-mounted and lift gently for large cuts; spring positioning ensures constant pressure on the workpiece. Four trapezoidal spindles deliver precise table height adjustment and guarantee high load capacity. Longitudinal guides integrated into the chassis ensure table guidance accuracy to a tenth of a millimeter.

Knife / cutterblock system
The Format4 4-knife cutterblock provides performance, precision and easy knife changes. Self-aligning knives, enclosed housing for quiet operation and reduced resin adhesion on clamping bolts. Optional TERSA-system or Silent-Power® spiral cutterblock available.

Feed
Standard variable feed speed 5–20 m/min (5–65.6 ft/min) to set the correct feed for finish quality or fast thicknessing.
