Description

Overview
The KREBS® DeSander range of hydrocyclones provides efficient fine-particle separation for industrial and municipal water systems. Designed to handle varied pressures and solids loadings, these DeSanders offer multiple internal fittings and mounting options to optimise separation performance for each application.

Key benefits
  • Simple, effective separation — compact hydrocyclone design with no internal moving parts reduces installation complexity and power consumption.
  • Wear-resistant options — selectable lining systems: unlined, vulcanized gum rubber, replaceable gum rubber liners or replaceable ceramic liners for high-abrasion service.
  • Flexible installation — horizontal, vertical or angled mounting; top (central) or tangential outlets; rotation selectable (clockwise or counterclockwise) to suit piping.

Models
  • KCSS DeSanders — pre-feed entry that pre-classifies sand and produces a smooth wall flow to minimise turbulence and solids ricochet, improving conveyor of centrifugal energy and reducing wear on accumulator tanks and internals.
  • KD and KS DeSanders — designed for potable water and many industrial uses (for example cooling towers and heat exchangers); cost-effective across a wide range of flow rates.

Applications
  • Potable water treatment
  • Cooling tower and heat-exchanger protection
  • Industrial process water grit/sand removal
  • Automotive and other fine-particle separation processes

Mounting, piping and connection options
Units may be mounted horizontally, vertically or at any angle. Horizontal units are relatively low to the ground and can be concealed where required. Water outlet options include central (top) or tangential; clockwise or counterclockwise rotation options facilitate piping layouts.

Construction and wear options
Standard construction is carbon steel, with fabrication to other alloys or ASME Section VIII, Division I available on request. Wear options include unlined, vulcanized gum rubber lining, replaceable gum rubber liners and replaceable ceramic liners for high-abrasion applications.

Operation and solids handling
DeSanders operate with no internal moving parts for straightforward, low-maintenance operation. An optional automatic solids discharge (actuated valve and timer) periodically evacuates accumulated solids to an accumulator tank.

Sustainability, safety and performance
Designed for effective separation with low power demand and minimal operator exposure; KCSS pre-feed design reduces wear and improves long-term reliability.

Technical specifications
  • Available cylinder diameters: 51–1270 mm (2–50 in)
  • Models/series: KCSS, KD, KS (selection by application and flow rate)
  • Mounting: horizontal, vertical or any intermediate angle
  • Wear lining options: unlined; vulcanized gum rubber; replaceable gum rubber liners; replaceable ceramic liners
