Description

General description
Glass furnace products for the production of glass containers. Glass Service has developed proprietary furnace technology with numerous installations worldwide. Furnaces are engineered and tailored to customer requirements. Main furnace types for container production include:
  • Regenerative furnaces end fired, production range 40 - 300 Tons/day
  • Regenerative furnaces side fired, production range 200 - 500 Tons/day
  • Recuperative furnaces, production range 20 - 100 Tons/day

Heating options and energy
All furnace types can be fired by gas or heavy oil; optional electric boosters are available to increase pull and operational flexibility. Glass Service has developed technologies to reduce energy consumption, extend furnace life and lower emissions. Key developments include:
  • Dog-house sealing design
  • Low NOx burners
  • High-quality insulation
  • Optimization of melting area and combustion chamber geometry
  • Optimization of side wall and throat cooling

Refining, pull rate and cullet management
High-pull regenerative furnaces use deep refiner technology for improved refining and temperature control in the throat. A special throat-booster process is available for low-pull operation. Cullet percentage is adjustable from 20% to 90%. For high cullet ratios a reinforced bottom design reduces risk of metal contamination and related defects.

Manufacturing and supplied equipment
Glass Service designs and manufactures key furnace-mounted equipment in-house (batch chargers, glass level controls, combustion systems, etc.), including assembly and testing prior to delivery to ensure optimum performance.

Oxy-Fuel furnaces and emissions
In addition to regenerative and recuperative options, Glass Service supplies Oxy-Fuel furnaces that can provide lower fossil energy use and reduced emissions. Several Oxy-Fuel installations have been commissioned.

Environmental controls
Furnaces can be equipped with flue gas filters or other emission control systems on request.
