General descriptionGlass Service produces a range of artistic glass furnaces designed for small- to medium-scale production, sampling and special glass melts. Available types include day tank, single pot (crucible), multi-pot and micro furnaces. Furnaces are suitable for clear, coloured and specialty glasses and are engineered for discontinuous production needs.
Furnace types- Day tank furnaces
- Single pot (crucible) furnaces
- Multi pot furnaces
- Micro furnaces
Day tank (description)Day tank furnaces are intended for the production of clear or coloured glass with frequent batch or colour changes. They are fuelled by natural gas or LPG and can be equipped with an air-preheating recuperator on the combustion air circuit. Typical gross output ranges from approx. 250 to 3,000 kg/day. Melting is performed discontinuously to allow flexible production cycles.
Day tank (process phases)- batch charging and melting phase (typically overnight)
- refining phase
- production phase
Day tank (operational data)Melting temperatures are commonly up to 1450 °C. Day tanks can be fitted with a lifting base to incline the tank, easing colour or batch changes and maintenance.
Pot furnaces (description)Pot (crucible) furnaces are used for artistic and special glass production. They exist as single-pot or multi-pot configurations (multi-pot less common). Typical outputs range from 300 to 500 kg/day, with a practical maximum around 1000 kg. Operation is discontinuous.
Pot furnaces (process phases)- batch charging and melting phase (typically overnight)
- refining phase
- production phase
Pot furnaces (operational data)Melting temperatures typically reach up to 1450 °C. Heating is by natural gas or LPG, and an air-preheating recuperator can be installed on the combustion air circuit to improve efficiency.
Micro furnaces (description)Micro furnaces are intended for glass sampling and melting small volumes (typically 50–250 kg gross capacity). They can be fuelled by natural gas or LPG and, for special glasses, configured for oxy-gas. Micro furnaces can be supplied fully pre-assembled; on-site connections for gas and electrical supply are required.
Glass types suitable for micro furnaces- Soda lime
- Barium crystal
- Coloured glass
- Borosilicate
- Optical glass
