Product OverviewThe WB/WK angle beam ultrasonic transducer series is designed for contact ultrasonic weld inspection and angled-beam NDT of industrial components. Wedge-based probes introduce shear or longitudinal waves into the test piece at defined inspection angles to detect inclined flaws related to welds and structural defects.
Key Features- Wedge-based angle beam design for transmitting shear or longitudinal waves at selected angles.
- Available configurations: large size, small size, and dual element angle beam probes.
- Integral and replaceable wedge options, plus quick-change and screw-mounted styles depending on model family.
- Angle selections commonly include 35°, 38°, 45°, 60°, 70°, 77°, 80°, and 90°.
- Frequency options: 1 MHz, 2 MHz, 2.25 MHz, 4 MHz, and 5 MHz depending on model family.
- Connector choices: Lemo 1, Lemo 00, BNC, Microdot, and MMD.
- High-temperature wedge options available for tests up to 200°C (400°F) on selected configurations.
ApplicationsSuitable for ultrasonic weld inspection and angled-path inspection of components where standard straight-beam probes are unsuitable. Typical applications include welds on pipes, tanks, pressure vessels, axles, forgings, castings, bridges, railroad wheels and rails, tubes, pumps, valve housings, turbine blades, shafts, and wheel rims.
Product Structure- Wedge-based introduction: Integral or replaceable wedge mounts the transducer to create the defined angle into the tested part.
- Large-size configuration: For general weld inspection, larger objects and thicker sections.
- Small-size configuration: Compact probes for restricted access, smaller objects or thinner sections.
- Dual element option: Separate transmit and receive elements for specific angle-beam inspection tasks.
- Wedge variants: Replaceable, custom-angle, curved, quick-change, screw-mounted and high-temperature wedges available per model family.
SpecificationsThe WB/WK series supports contact ultrasonic angle beam inspection for NDT and weld inspection. Configuration types include large, small and dual element angle beam transducers. Model families include WB, WK, SWB, SWK, MWB, MWK, MSW-QC, MSWS, SMSWS, WKD, and ADP. Frequency and angle options vary by model family and material reference.
Model Options- Large Size Angle Beam — Typical use: general weld inspection, larger objects, thicker sections, pipes, tanks, pressure vessels; Frequencies: commonly 1 MHz, 2 MHz; Angles: 35°–90° depending on model; Wedge: integral or replaceable.
- Small Size Angle Beam — Typical use: welds on smaller objects and thinner sections, tubes, pipes, containers, pumps, valve housings, turbine blades, shafts, wheel rims; Frequencies: 2 MHz, 4 MHz, 5 MHz; Compact bodies with integral or replaceable wedges.
- Dual Element Angle Beam — Typical use: inspections requiring separated transmit/receive elements; Frequencies: 2 MHz, 2.25 MHz, 4 MHz, 5 MHz; Structure: separated transmit and receive elements with angle-beam wedge.
Integration NotesSelect the probe based on weld geometry, required inspection angle, frequency, wedge type and access space. These transducers require compatible ultrasonic flaw detectors, appropriate couplant and correct wedge configuration for reliable contact inspection. Custom configurations are available on request.
