How to choose this product

ultrasonic-level-sensor

An ultrasonic level sensor emits an ultrasound signal and receives the return signal bounced off the surface of the material whose level is being measured. This allows for continuous level measurements of a liquid or a solid within a container.

Applications

These devices can be used to measure the volume of liquids, slurries and loose solids in a closed or open container of varying size, including large silos and open basins.

Technologies

The ultrasound transducer emits short pulses toward the fill material, usually in the frequency range of 18 to 70 kHz. The signals bounce off the surface of the material, and the return signal is registered by the transducer. The time it takes for the signal to make the round trip is proportional to the distance from the transducer to the surface, and, hence, to the level of the material in the container.

How to choose

Choice will depend on the nature of the material whose level is to be measured, the temperature, pressure and other environmental parameters and the range of measurement values.
