Product OverviewThe delay line contact transducer series provides contact ultrasonic inspection capability for thickness measurement and near-surface flaw detection. Designed as front-end probes for compatible ultrasonic flaw detectors and thickness gauges, these transducers use a physical delay line to separate the active element from the inspection surface and enable reliable inspection of thin or curved components.
Key Features- Delay line contact configuration for contact ultrasonic NDT.
- Suitable for thickness measurement and near-surface flaw detection.
- Exchangeable and removable delay line options across model families.
- High-frequency variants (up to 22 MHz) for improved resolution and small-flaw detectability.
- Side-mounted Microdot connector on delay line models; BNC and LEMO-1 cable options available depending on model.
- DFR models offer removable delay lines; Mini-DFR for compact, small-element tasks.
- K-PEN pencil probes available with straight, 45° and right-angle handles; two tip delay options (0.065 in. / 1.7 mm and 0.090 in. / 2.3 mm).
ApplicationsRecommended for ultrasonic thickness measurement and near-surface flaw inspection of thin sections, curved parts, tubing, pipe, composite structures, plastics and turbine blades. The K-PEN pencil probe is optimised for tight radii (e.g., turbine blades) and for thickness checks at the base of external pits where access is restricted.
Product Structure- Delay line structure: A delay line positions the active element away from the inspection surface to improve near-surface response.
- Exchangeable delay line: G..MN configurations accept exchangeable delay lines (9.5 mm and 12.5 mm options).
- Removable delay line: DFR configurations provide removable delay lines on selected element sizes.
- Mini-DFR: Compact removable delay line configuration for small-element inspections.
- K-PEN pencil probe: Replaceable delay line pencil probe with two tip diameters and three handle styles for access-limited inspections.
