Description

Slotted pipes in high density polyethylene black in colour with smooth surfaces for the collection of leachates from infiltration waters, for biogas uptake in waste dumps and for the drainage of civil works (basements, retaining walls, road works, sports facilities, etc.). Biogas Biogas typically refers to a gas produced by the breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. It is a renewable energy source which can be produced from regionally available raw materials such as recycled waste and is environmentally friendly. Biogas is produced by digestion with anaerobic bacteria or fermentation of biodegradable materials such as manure, sewage, municipal waste, green waste, plant material and crops. Biogas comprises primarily of methane and carbon dioxide and can be combusted with oxygen: the energy release allows it to be used as a fuel and also in a gas engine to convert the energy into electricity and heat. Leachate Leachate is any liquid that in passing through matter, extracts solutes, suspended solids or any other component of the material through which it has passed. It is a widely used term in the environmental sciences where it has the specific meaning of a liquid that has dissolved or entrained environmentally harmful substances which may then enter the environment. It is most commonly used in the context of land-filling of putrescible or industrial waste. In the narrow environmental context leachate is therefore any liquid material that drains from land or stockpiled material and contains significantly elevated concentrations of undesirable material derived from the material that it has passed through.
