OverviewThe INGESCO® PDC.E 60 RT ESE lightning conductor detects the increase in the atmospheric electric field when a descending leader from a thundercloud approaches and stores energy in its capacitor. When the field reaches a critical level, the atmospheric accelerator releases the stored energy, generating an upward ion streamer that creates a preferred path to channel the lightning discharge to ground, preventing strike to the protected area or structure.
System and operationThe PDC.E 60 RT incorporates a dual ESE system: a state-of-the-art capacitive circuit and an atmospheric accelerator that generates the upward streamer. This system has been tested by LABELEC (accredited high-voltage laboratory) and verified under natural field conditions.
Remote testing and monitoringIncludes a remote testing system via Bluetooth: using the INGESCO mobile app (iOS and Android) it is possible to perform periodic verification of the collection terminal autonomously, obtaining instant diagnostics, battery level and test result, with geolocation of the installation. The unit features an integrated photovoltaic panel to power the test module and an integrated LiPo battery.
Performance and protection radiusDevice performance is defined by the Δt value, which represents the ionization lead time compared to a conventional lightning conductor and allows calculation of the protection radius according to NFC 17-102:2011, UNE 21186:2011 and NP4426:2013. With Δt = 60 μs, the PDC.E 60 RT provides protection radii of 80 m (Level I), 90 m (Level II), 105 m (Level III) and 120 m (Level IV) calculated following the Technical Building Code.
