Roller inductors for heating rolls provide precise temperature control and even heat distribution for heated rotating rolls across a wide range of industrial applications. Kendrion's modular inductors are assembled as segmented units on a shaft (heating mandrel) which are inserted as a stationary unit into the rotating heating roller.
Applications- Plastics and rubber industry: optimal heating and shaping of materials.
- Textile industry: efficient drying, finishing and coating processes.
- Paper and film processing: reliable drying, forming and laminating.
- Metalworking: high-quality coating and lamination processes.
- Food industry: precise temperature control during packaging production.
- Also used in base cylinders, embossing cylinders, current conductive rolls, smoothing rolls, chill roll cylinders, laminating rolls and calender rolls.
Advantages- Maximum energy efficiency through direct, low-loss energy transfer.
- Fast and precise temperature control without delay.
- Maintenance-free and low-wear (no slip rings or seals).
- Long service life thanks to contactless technology.
- Flexible temperature range suitable for varied production processes.
- Eliminates leakage risks and complex installations associated with liquid media (thermal oil, water, steam).
Integration & operation- Modular design allows individually controllable heating zones (segments mounted on a shaft form a heating mandrel).
- Fieldbus-compatible induction generators enable easy machine integration (Profinet®, CANopen, EtherCAT®).
- On request, heating rolls can be supplied as autonomous units with integrated control and operating display.
Characteristics / technical specifications- Inner diameter range: 60 mm to 480 mm.
- Heated section length: up to 250 mm.
- Temperature range: up to 300 °C.
- Modular segmented inductor design for multiple controllable heating zones.
- Fieldbus compatibility: Profinet®, CANopen, EtherCAT®.
