Product overviewConstant linear quarter-wave (1/4λ) retardance is maintained across the visible to near-infrared range (450–1100 nm) when linearly polarized light passes through this waveplate. The plate is manufactured by laminating birefringent resin films between optical glass or quartz substrates, providing optical performance suitable for industrial and scientific applications. Use of resin films permits fabrication of diameters greater than 30 mm and enables wavelength-specific optical design customization.
Circular polarizer functionCombining the SB-RETAX-5L-1/4λ with a broadband polarizer produces a super broadband circular polarizing plate: the constant 1/4λ retardation over 450–1100 nm converts incident light to circular polarization and the assembly can act as an isolator to block reflected light from reflective surfaces.
