Cast Nylon (PA 6 + oil) is a polymer obtained from the polymerization of caprolactam directly in the mold, with the addition of 6% of a special lubricating oil that remains in solution in the material.
Applications:
Mechanical: thanks to its excellent self-lubricating properties, high resistance to compression and impact, and the possibility of obtaining semi-finished and large-sized parts, it is widely used for producing bushings, large-diameter bearings, pulleys, wheels, and anti-wear guides. Due to its excellent abrasion resistance, it is used for guides, bearings, supports, rollers, and bushings; in cableway systems for pulleys, wheels, and sliding parts.
Food: not used in direct contact with food.
Electrical: the variation in electrical characteristics with changes in absorbed humidity greatly limits its use in the electrical sector.
Chemical: good resistance to alkalis, inorganic compounds, and solvents.
Cast Nylon (PA 6 + oil) has the following properties:
Wear resistance
Tensile and compressive strength
Higher impact resistance compared to PA 6 G
High fatigue resistance
Self-lubricating with the lowest friction coefficient among polyamides
Excellent machinability
Among the product’s drawbacks, it is noted that it is hygroscopic, although to a lesser extent than PA 6.
