PPSU is an amorphous thermoplastic polymer offering superior impact resistance and hydrolysis resistance compared to PSU. Its service temperature reaches up to 170°C, maintaining exceptional impact resistance even after heat aging.
Applications:
Mechanical: Bearings, supports, and other parts used in both low and high temperatures.
Electrical: Insulating supports for circuits, coils, and isolators.
Chemical: Ideal for environments with high chemical and thermal resistance, particularly against mineral acids, alkalis, and saline solutions.
PPSU is unsuitable for food contact.
The PPSU (Polyphenylsulfone) has the following properties:
High-temperature resistance
Impact resistance, even at low temperatures
Resistance to hydrolysis and steam
Excellent mechanical properties (tensile, bending)
Good chemical resistance
Electrical properties
However, PPSU is more expensive than most thermoplastic polymers, and it does not resist UV rays, making it unsuitable for outdoor applications. It offers better impact resistance and chemical resistance compared to polysulfone and polyetherimide, and is ideal for repeated steam sterilization.
