The Flame Engulfment Test Device, in accordance with ISO 23269-2, is used to evaluate the flame resistance performance of a self-contained breathing apparatus exposed to an engulfed flame.
Flame engulfment test procedure:
1) The complete breathing apparatus is mounted on the metallic test manikin;
2) The breathing is set at a rate of 25 cycles per min and 2 liters per stroke;
3) The test manikin is moved into the oven when has been preheated to 90 degrees for 15mins (after the oven recovers to 90 degrees);
4) Moves the test manikin to the center of the burner array, and apply the engulfed flame to the test manikin for 10 seconds.
5) Moves the test manikin aside, raises to 150mm in height, and drops it freely.
6) The test specimen passed if the following conditions were met:
a) No afterflame continues for more than 5 seconds after flame engulfment.
b)No components separated or displaced that would cause breathing detached
, or fail to breathe resistance after the drop test.
