OverviewEquipment for chemical strengthening of glass to reduce breakage. Designed for thin glass, the system provides high-precision temperature control even for large workpieces and can be custom-sized according to project requirements.
- Proven designs from small to large-scale installations.
- Maximum processed glass size to date: 1700 mm × 1600 mm.
- Expandable design to accommodate larger formats on request.
- Integrated warm/cold water bath washing systems can be supplied.
DetailsChemical strengthening is performed by ion exchange: glass is immersed in a molten potassium nitrate (KNO3) bath, allowing sodium ions in the glass surface to be exchanged with potassium ions. This process forms a compressive stress layer on the surface, increasing strength to more than five times that of untreated glass and improving resistance to breakage and surface damage.
Applications- Smartphone cover glass
- Tablet glass
- ATM/front-panel cover glass
- Shaped and specialty glass
- Solar panel glass
Features / Technical specifications- Process: Ion-exchange (immersion in potassium nitrate bath)
- Suitable for: Thin flat glass
- Maximum processed size achieved: 1700 mm × 1600 mm
- Strength increase: >5× compared to unstrengthened glass (compressive surface layer)
- Temperature control: High-precision control even for large units
- Manufacturing scope: Proven designs from small to large; scalable for larger demands
- Ancillary equipment: Design and supply of warm/cold water bath washing systems available
- Typical applications: Smartphones, tablets, ATM covers, shaped glass, solar panels
