Product overviewThe stitch-bonded silica needle mat is an inorganic needle-punched insulation mat composed of 95–99% high-purity amorphous silica fibers and reinforced with aramid and silica sewing threads. Stitch-bonded construction ties the fiber web through its full thickness to prevent delamination and maintain edge integrity under mechanical stress, vibration and high-velocity gas flow.
Thermal performance and stabilityDesigned for continuous use up to 1100°C (2012°F). The mat shows low thermal conductivity across a wide temperature range and limited linear shrinkage under prolonged thermal cycling, supporting long-term thermal insulation in high-temperature systems.
Safety and compositionMaterial is inorganic and non-combustible. It is asbestos-free, halogen-free and VOC-free. High electrical resistivity enables combined thermal and electrical insulation applications where required by specification.
Key features- Stitch-bonded reinforcement prevents delamination and edge deterioration
- Reliable continuous service to 1100°C with limited thermal shrinkage
- Low thermal conductivity for effective heat conservation
- High electrical resistivity for combined thermal/electrical insulation
- Non-combustible; free of asbestos, halogens and VOCs
- Good machinability while retaining structural integrity
- Provides additional sound absorption when used in multi-layer assemblies
Fabrication and handlingThe mat can be cut, die-cut, pressed or water-jet machined. Stitch reinforcement reduces fraying and helps maintain edge integrity during handling and processing. Off-cuts are inert and may be disposed of as non-hazardous mineral waste in accordance with local regulations.
