Description

Overview
NivuFlow 7550 is a hybrid flow measurement system for part‑filled pipes, open channels and surface waters. It combines contactless radar surface velocity measurement with an ultrasonic sideways profile scanner to deliver reliable flow results in challenging conditions.

Key features
  • Redundant flow measurement using radar and ultrasonic cross‑correlation
  • Contactless radar surface velocity measurement with low maintenance
  • Ultrasonic sideways velocity profile sensor for overflow and permanent measurement
  • Independent dual technologies increase accuracy and reliability
  • All sensors mounted above sedimentation zones to reduce fouling
  • Reliable operation independent of wave formation, storm conditions and low flow levels
  • Self‑learning system with stored dynamic hydraulic models
  • IoT‑ready with global 4G connectivity and modern communication options

Hybrid flow measurement
The combination of radar and ultrasonic cross‑correlation makes the NivuFlow 7550 suitable for demanding measurement sites where single‑technology approaches fail. Dual measurements ensure continuity and verification of results.

Contactless radar flow measurement
The radar sensor measures surface velocity without contact and requires minimal maintenance. It performs reliably at high velocities and low flow depths. Dynamic hydraulic models for various channel shapes and fill levels enable accurate conversion from surface velocity to actual discharge.

Ultrasonic measurement as overflow sensor
The ultrasonic cross‑correlation sensor is designed for overflow and high‑sediment situations where radar is limited. It measures velocity profiles and detects bed sedimentation to determine flow rate precisely and to support radar measurements.

Ultrasonic measurement as redundant measurement
The ultrasonic sensor can be installed permanently as a redundant system. Sidewall mounting above sedimentation minimizes fouling. Local velocity detection across the channel width produces accurate flow profiles, supported by pre‑programmed hydraulic models.

Installation and handling
The compact transmitter supports DIN‑rail mounting for space‑saving installation in control cabinets. An optional field enclosure provides IP68 protection for harsh environments. The large graphic display simplifies commissioning. Transmitter software offers extended diagnostics and supports SCADA/process control integration and standard protocols.

Typical applications
  • Continuous flow metering in overflow and surcharge conditions
  • Sedimentation detection and monitoring using ultrasonic level/profile measurement
  • Measurement sites with high dirt loads, debris and bed load
  • Locations with limited installation options within the channel
  • Reliable metering at shooting discharge and low flow depths
