OverviewThe PCS-996R disturbance & fault recorder (DFR) is a multifunctional data acquisition system for substation monitoring. It captures waveforms and time-aligned values from multiple supervised objects to generate disturbance records and consolidates discrete records from protective relays to simplify post-event analysis. The system can be deployed in centralized or distributed architectures or operate standalone with a local PC and HMI. Supported protocols include IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-103 and FTP; GOOSE receive function is integrated.
Standard formatPCS-996R units provide 48 analog channels and 60 binary channels in a single enclosure and support external time synchronization (IRIG-B, GPS via RS-485).
Recording- Triggered recording @ 9600 Hz for short-term transient events
- Continuous recording @ 1200 Hz for mid-term dynamic processes
- Slow recording @ 1–50 Hz for long-term power quality monitoring
- Extract recording @ 9600 Hz to automatically isolate fault channels and improve analysis efficiency
Recording initiation conditions (examples)- Voltage-based triggers: phase voltage over/under limits; sudden phase voltage changes; negative/zero-sequence over limits; frequency out of range; absolute df/dt over threshold
- Current-based triggers: phase current over limit; sudden phase current changes; sequence component thresholds; zero-sequence over limit; power swing detection
- Binary input triggers
- Continuous 24-hour uninterrupted recording
Auxiliary functions- Self-diagnostic test
- DC power loss alarm
- Hardware circuit online detection
- IRIG-B time synchronization support
Communication and interfaces- 1 × RJ45 Ethernet port (supports IEC 60870-5-103 and IEC 61850)
- 1 × RS-485 serial port for GPS/time synchronization
- 1 × RS-232 serial port for testing and configuration
- 1 × Ethernet interface for FTP service (continuous recording and real-time waveform display)
- Optional dual fiber Ethernet ports supporting IEC 60870-5-103 and IEC 61850
