OverviewPCS-9700 is an automation solution for substations, power plants and industrial electrical systems. It integrates protection, control, Ethernet, IT and communication technologies based on international standards. The system is fully compatible with IEC 61850 and uses a layered distributed architecture with bay-oriented and object-oriented structure to support reliability, extensibility and maintainability.
Applications- Transmission and distribution substations from distribution level up to extra high voltage
- Power generation, utilities and industrial electrical systems
- New-build substations and retrofit projects
- Gas-insulated and air-insulated switchgear
- Urban rail, light-rail and electrified railway systems
Functions- Real-time data acquisition and processing
The system acquires and processes real-time measurements and status data from bay-level devices. - Control operations, synchronism checking and interlocking
Executes sequential operations on circuit breakers, motor-driven isolators, transformer tap changers and reactive power device groups. Bay control units perform control, synchronism checks and electrical interlocking. Interlocking logic can be edited, compiled and downloaded. - Communication with control center
Communication with the control center is independent of the local HMI. Control commands can be transmitted directly from the control center. Supports IEC standard protocols and other protocols such as DNP3.0 and IEC 60870 series via converters. - Time synchronization
Receives GPS time signal for clock synchronization; absolute time is distributed across the network. Supports second/minute pulse input via RS-485 or potential-free contact and IRIG-B (AC or DC). - Interfaces with third-party IEDs
Protocol converters compliant with IEC 61850 are provided to integrate third-party IEDs, converting non-IEC protocols to IEC 61850 for full automation. - Protection and fault information management
Collects protection and fault data, provides local display, analysis and processing, and includes tools for fault analysis and reporting to dispatch centers for rapid decision support. - PLC functions (IEC 61131)
Programmable control functions based on IEC 61131 for device-level sequential logic, group control and station-wide control. - SAS / HMI software
Provides HMI software for database setup and maintenance; reactive power and voltage regulation; configurable alarm processing; sequence-of-events recording and post-fault review; charts and reports; online calculations; operation management; diagnostics and recovery support.
Features- Optimized design
Designed to support protection, local supervisory control, reactive power and voltage regulation, interlocking and selective ground fault protection, as well as equipment and recorder data management. - Flexible communication
Station bus uses 100 Mbps Ethernet; bay-level uses dual 100 Mbps Ethernet for redundancy. Process bus uses redundant Gigabit or 100 Mbps Ethernet over fiber for real-time transmission. Supports IEC 60870-5-103 and protocol converters (e.g., RCS-9794A/B) for multi-vendor integration. - Open HMI software
Software available for Windows and UNIX. SQL Server (Windows) or ORACLE (UNIX) selectable as DBMS. Open architecture improves access to station information. - Direct transmission to control center
External and internal communications are independent; information can be acquired at bay level and transmitted directly to dispatching centers, mitigating RTU bottlenecks. - Object-oriented information model
Logical devices are associated with physical devices. Supports online configuration and real-time checks, limiting changes to related logical devices for easier extension and maintenance. - Reliable bay control unit
Bay control unit based on 32-bit CPU and DSP with a real-time multitask OS for bay-level data acquisition and processing.
