Description

Product overview
The TMP117 is a high-precision digital temperature sensor designed for medical‑grade applications including electronic patient thermometers. It provides 16-bit temperature readings (0.0078 °C resolution) and up to ±0.1 °C accuracy from −20 °C to 50 °C without calibration. The device features an I2C/SMBus-compatible interface, programmable temperature alerts, one-shot conversion, support for up to four addresses on a single bus, and an integrated 48-bit general-purpose EEPROM. Low current consumption (typical 3.5 µA) minimizes self-heating, making it suitable for battery-powered and wearable systems.

Applications
  • Electronic patient thermometers and clinical monitoring
  • Wearable and patch temperature measurement
  • RTD replacement (PT100/PT500/PT1000) in industrial and consumer devices
  • Low-power temperature monitoring in medical and battery-powered systems

Key features
  • High accuracy: up to ±0.1 °C (−20 °C to 50 °C)
  • 16-bit resolution: 0.0078 °C per LSB
  • Low power: typical 3.5 µA (1 Hz); 150 nA shutdown current
  • Wide supply range: 1.7 V–5.5 V (limited/full ranges)
  • I2C and SMBus compatible interface; supports up to 4 device addresses on one bus
  • Programmable temperature alert limits and selectable averaging
  • Digital offset for system-level correction
  • 48-bit integrated general-purpose EEPROM
  • Suitable as a single-chip RTD replacement (PT100, PT500, PT1000)
