Product overviewAUTOSORT™ BLACK is a high-resolution sorting system for separating carbon-filled black plastics by polymer type, delivering high-purity polymer fractions and improved value recovery for recyclers. The unit is engineered for high throughput, robust operation and low maintenance, processing object sizes from 25 to 120 mm and featuring off-belt detection to minimise downtime.
Key benefits- Accurate polymer-level detection for carbon-black plastics
- Handles grain sizes from 25 to 120 mm
- High throughput with high-purity output
- Easy installation and robust construction
- Low maintenance and reduced downtime
How it sortsAUTOSORT™ BLACK uses MIR (mid-infrared) spectroscopy with enhanced resolution combined with a modified FLYING BEAM™ illumination to reliably distinguish black PE, black PP, PS and other polymers. An optional electromagnetic sensor detects metals and other contaminants. Off-belt detection protects sensors and reduces wear.
Features- MIR spectrometer
- Modified FLYING BEAM™ lighting
- Optional electromagnetic metal detection
- Optional TOMRA Insight for digital monitoring and support
- Off-belt detection to reduce sensor wear
Applications- Mechanical recycling of black plastics
- Recovery of post-consumer packaging plastics
- Integration into industrial waste and sorting lines
- Separation of polymer-specific black fractions for downstream recycling
