Wabtec’s Evolution Series ES44AC locomotive combines power, performance and efficiency. Originally designed to meet US EPA Tier 2 emissions standards in 2005, the ES44AC model utilizes a 12-cylinder Evolution series engine which leverages 4-stroke combustion technology to maintain horsepower, lower emissions and fuel consumption compared to its predecessor 16 cylinder FDL engine. From 2005 to today the ES44AC has been the North American standard for locomotive performance and total cost of ownership. It is also a platform for heavy-haul applications worldwide.
