Overview
SEPCOM Cow Horizontal is a solids-liquid screw press designed for continuous separation of manure, digestate, sludge and other solids-liquid mixtures. Key design elements include a compensator hopper, a self-adjusting counter-pressure diaphragm and a modular SINT engineering polymer screw combined with a specially shaped self-cleaning cylindrical screen to reduce wear and adapt to varied feedstocks.

Main construction and components
The unit comprises a feeding section with compensator hopper and overflow, a stainless-steel casing housing a modular screw conveyor and a cylindrical screen basket. Solids are conveyed toward the diaphragm outlet where a material plug forms; liquids pass through the screen. Drive unit: electric motor with gear reducer and splined output shaft directly coupled to the screw conveyor.

Function
Separation is achieved by gravity and mechanical compression: the screw conveys and compacts the solid fraction while liquid drains through the screen. The counter-pressure diaphragm forms a plug enabling automatic operation and preventing liquid bypass. The machine handles a wide range of substrates including cow manure, farm slurry, biogas digestate, industrial sludges and vegetable/fruit processing residues.
