Description

Product Overview
A solenoid valve coil converts electrical energy into magnetic force to actuate a solenoid valve. When the coil winding is energized a magnetic field is generated that moves the valve plunger to open, close or regulate fluid and gas flow. Solenoid valve coils are used in pneumatic, hydraulic, water, gas, medical, automotive and factory automation systems. Available in AC or DC versions with a range of voltages, power ratings, insulation classes and protection levels. Proper selection supports efficient operation, fast response and long service life of the valve assembly.

How does a solenoid valve coil work?
  • The coil is wound from insulated copper wire around a magnetic core.
  • When energized, current in the winding creates a magnetic field.
  • The magnetic field attracts the metal plunger or armature, shifting its position inside the valve body.
  • The plunger movement opens or closes the fluid passage or regulates flow within the valve.
  • When power is removed the magnetic field collapses and a spring or opposing force returns the plunger to its rest position.

Key design and performance factors
  • Number of turns in the coil
  • Diameter and quality of the copper wire
  • Voltage input and current level
  • Quality of magnetic materials and magnetic circuit design
  • Air-gap design
  • Operating temperature and environmental conditions
  • Insulation class and protection level

Basic characteristics
Industrial solenoid valve coils are electromagnetic actuators designed to control valve operation via electrical signals. They are produced in AC and DC versions with multiple rated voltages, power options, insulation classes and protection features. Typical characteristics include stable magnetic force, fast response, low power consumption and high durability. Coils use copper wire, precision winding technology and quality control. Custom designs are available to match valve tube size, operating environment and performance requirements.

Short description
The solenoid valve coil is the electromagnetic component typically mounted around the valve tube; when energized it generates magnetic force to drive an internal plunger and achieve opening, closing or regulation of fluid passages. Industrial coils are built for continuous-duty operation and can be customized for AC/DC voltage, power ratings and physical size.

Industrial applications
Used across industrial automation (pneumatic cylinders, robots, production machines), hydraulic equipment (construction machinery, injection molding), water treatment and fluid control systems, medical devices (oxygen concentrators, diagnostic and laboratory equipment), and automotive systems (fuel, transmission, braking and emission control).

Advantages / Disadvantages
  • Pros: fast response, simple electrical control, compact footprint, reliable switching, flexible customization for voltage, size, power and environmental protection.
  • Cons: risk of overheating if thermal design is inadequate; requires correct voltage matching; typically provides on/off switching rather than precise proportional control without additional electronics.

Troubleshooting - common issues
  • Coil not operating: verify supply voltage, wiring and winding continuity.
  • Weak magnetic force: check voltage level, coil specification, magnetic elements and air gap.
  • Overheating: may result from overvoltage, continuous operation beyond duty rating or poor heat dissipation.
  • Slow valve operation: inspect for mechanical friction, contamination or weak electromagnetic force.
  • Short-circuit faults: insulation damage, moisture ingress or high temperature can cause shorts.
