Medical in-line charger meets stringent requirements and IP68
In order to meet the requirements of hospital and care environments, Engelking Elektronik has developed an innovative 12W charger unit which is able to withstand the ingress of water and other liquids to IP68+ as found in automatic washing units. The unit's robust housing can withstand the weight of such items as a 250kg hospital bed without damage. This is hardly surprising as the charger electronics are completely molded in polyurethane making it almost indestructible.
The charger's output is fitted with a 2.5m spiral cable made of polyurethane which is impervious as well as having excellent long-term retraction qualities. The mains side is fitted as standard with a short water resistant (EPR) cable and splash-proof European 2-pin contour plug thus meeting the requirements of class 2 for hospital applications, needing no earth connection.
The in-line design of this charging unit means that the strain on the wall socket is reduced and the unit cannot easily fall onto the floor or patient.
Having a wide range input of 90-240VAC, double pole fusing the standard product is designed for charging 24V lead acid batteries but custom variations are available on request.

The intermediate battery charger range: Chargetec C300 and C400 series
The Chargetec C300 and C400 series of battery trip units provide a more comprehensive array of functions and alarms than those offered in the Economy range. This includes a microprocessor based, temperature compensated, and current limited charger with a wider range of alarms, including high volts, low volts, AC mains fail, and low battery voltage cut-off via the battery isolation MCB. The battery load test facility is now automatic. The standing load capability is increased over the economy trip unit to150watts. The metering is also increased over the economy trip unit to include a voltmeter, a charge / discharge ammeter and LED’s to indicate the alarm condition.
