SI - Side Interface Board-To-Backplane Connector Overview
In years past, low frequency transmissions could absorb the difference between the connector parameters and the PCB. As data transfers and rise times push into the gigabit range, signal ringing, jitter and edge rate profiles break down the signal quality to unacceptable levels. Side Interface refers to a revolutionary PCB technology. SI allows the inner layers to exit through the actual side of the PCB (represented by the thickness dimension). This provides a flat mating surface for the HXC125 contact. The advantage of this technology is that you keep the signal within the PCB for greater period of time. By staying within the "Controlled Impedance Environment" longer, there is less disturbance to the signal. This short interconnect distance eliminates the large electrical interruption one would see in traditional two piece connectors.

The majority of components connected to a backplane are connected using solderless pressfit technology. Two-row power taps featuring either an elastic pressfit zone or soldering termination were developed by ERNI for connecting power supply lines. Cable plugs or terminal sockets can be optionally used for cable termination.
The power taps can either be connected via screw or plug-type terminals with cable lugs or flat terminal sockets. For versions featuring 6 pins, the max. current is 30A at 20°C ambient temperature. Versions featuring 10 pins can withstand 40A at 20°C.

ERNI offers three different versions of connector housing for Series TMC connectors ace. To DIN 41 652 and MIL C-24308.
KSG 200 Fully insulated housing with integrated shielding plates
KSG 185 Housing with snap-in latches and/or screw locking, integrated coding
KSG 183 Housing with snap-in latches
All three versions of housing are of two-shell design which allows the wring of the female or male connectors prior to housing assembly. All three housing versions can easily be disassembled.
With the KSG 185 (cable connector housing Series KSG 185) it is possible to lock the two shell halves with snap- in latches. There is also a screw for vibration-proof applications. The connector shell halves of Series KSG 183 are screwed together after wiring.
For applications with screw locking the KSG 185 offers locking parts for thread types M3 and #4/40 NC-2 A.

Tyco Electronics' Flex-to-Board Connectors combine the benefits of flex circuitry with the superior electrical performance of HXC125 for backplane to backplane interconnect. This solderless, compression mount connector allows for easy field replacement or repair. The simple hardware design minimizes the space needed for connector mounting.
This combination of HXC contacts and flexible circuits has allowed many difficult applications to be addressed. Backplane to backplane, as well as parallel PCB's, have benefited from these low profile and high density connectors. Due to the geometry of the contact, minimum real estate is required.

The high-speed SMT connector Microspeed with the pitch 1.0mm is especially designed for modern board-to-board applications in telecom and datacom equipments with data rates up to 10 GBit/s. Flexible High-Performance Signal Routing for Tight Packaging Applications
Molex's new microminiature IDT coaxial connector system provides superior signal integrity, space savings and reliability for mobile and other applications. The system was initially designed to run signaling through the hinge area of new swivel-type cell phones with rotating LCDs. The ultra-thin coaxial cable used in the system offers easier signal routing and space savings versus FPC.
A key advantage of the system over other types is our double-clamp wire grounding method that provides both electrical and mechanical grounding. This method offers a more reliable termination method than hand-soldering and up to 60% less transmission (dB) loss at frequencies between 1-3MHz.
