GLS closed aperture, tunnel metal detectors are equipped with digital technology and used for inspecting bulk materials or individually packaged product on belt conveyors, material slides or vibratory conveyors.
GLS metal detection systems detect all ferrous and non-ferrous metals (steel, stainless steel, aluminium etc ), even those which may be contained in the product. If metal is detected a signal is sent to the process controller or the reject unit is activated.
The enclosed type of construction ensures that very high sensitivity is achieved throughout the entire tunnel area. For this reason the GLS range is highly suited to precise applications in the food industry.
The size of the detector is dependent upon application, conveyor belt width and product height.

The Thermo Scientific Ramsey Oretronic III is designed especially for belt conveyors moving coal, iron pellets, minerals, aggregates and other bulk materials. It can detect all types of metallic scrap including: bucket teeth, manganese steel mantles, bore crowns, bar scrap chains, tools, etc. It can even detect tramp metal when buried in wet conductive materials. And, because it is insensitive to materials with high magnetic permeability and electrical conductivity, this tramp metal detector can be used in applications where conventional metal detectors produce an unacceptable false alarm rate.

METTLER TOLEDO SAFELINE T Series metal detectors are designed for installation in vertical packaging applications. These detectors are able to detect metal contamination within product ‘in-flight’ typically as it passes from a weigher into a bag maker or packaging machine.
T Series detectors are able to identify all metal contaminants in food products including non-magnetic stainless steel which can be difficult to detect. Systems built with SAFELINE Signature software are operated through a membrane style menu driven key panel providing quick and easy set up routines. The RMS series of tunnel metal detectors (with circular aperture) are mainly used for inspecting bulk materials in pipeline systems (gravity or airborne feed). They are also often used in the ejection area of production machines to identify rejects or broken tools.
RMS metal detectors detect all magnetic and non-magnetic metals (steel, stainless steel, aluminium etc ), even those which may be contained in the product. If metal is detected a signal is sent to the process controller or a flap is activated to remove the contaminant.
The RMS metal detector range is mainly used in industries where hygiene standards are less important. They are used to inspect products which have little or no product effect.
The size of the metal detector depends on the application and nominal width of the pipeline.

The dramatic events of 11th September 2001 caused the Airport Security Authorities to strengthen checks on passengers and their personal effects.
Notwithstanding the extremely high discrimination capability of last-generation CEIA walk-through Metal Detectors, a certain percentage of shoes containing significant metal masses still cause alarms during transit, and so have to be examined by security staff with another inspection system – usually the X-ray scanner – to ensure that there are no meal weapons hidden in them. This obviously causes inconvenience to the passengers in transit.
In the light of this new operational scenario, CEIA has developed the SAMD Shoe Analyzer to check shoes worn by passengers without having to remove them, employing low-frequency electromagnetic fields which are non-ionizing and completely harmless.
The SAMD Shoe Analyzer is an extension of the Walk Through Metal Detector Gate, which complies with the most recent, stringent security requirements, reduces by up to 10 times or more the number of shoes that must be examined manually because of metal alarm.

Range of application

Principle of operation

RAPID 5000 hygenic design - Metal separator for free-fall applications
RAPID 5000 metal separation systems remove magnetic and non-magnetic metal impurities (steel, stainless steel, aluminium etc) from free-falling bulk materials by means of a reject flap ("Quick Flap System") without any interruption to the production process.
