Product features
Jumper cables are used to make the connection between the workplace PC and the FOC socket. In the data cabinet jumper cables are used to make the connections between the FOC splice box and the active component. Media converters are also connected with jumper cables. Direct connections between two active components in the in-house area are frequency made with special lengths.
In our glass fiber assembly we produce individual jumper cables with different plug variations at the customer's request.

Fiber Optic & Capillary Assemblies
- Low Fiber Count Assemblies
- Cable Design Options
- High Power Laser Connectors
- Bundles
- Capillary Assemblies
Assemblies can include optical, electrical, mechanical and fluid functions in a single, unit. Combining optical fibers, mechanical holding and mounting hardware and fused silica capillaries, they may be used to transfer and/or manipulate light and/or fluids from one position to another. Most assemblies are based on specific user requirements. These can vary in complexity from a single, finished, optical fiber (with or without end-terminations) to a complex, branching assembly, combining the advantages of fused silica light guides and/or fluid guides, into an integral unit.
Optical fiber or fused silica capillaries can be clustered into bundles at one end and fanned-out into various configurations at the opposite end. Special end shapes can be micro-machined directly onto the optical fiber or capillary, saving bonding and coupling losses. Termination style and technique, jacketing, and fiber type can be specified to ensure optimum system performance.
Polymicro offers the system designer unparalleled flexibility to incorporate a wide range of design options into their assemblies.
Note: Polymicro Technologies manuafacturers optical fiber cable, components and assemblies only. Polymicro Technologies does not design, manufacture or market any medical devices.

Multimode, step-index optical fibers offer the most efficient and flexible delivery of high power laser beams. The correct components should be selected for minimizing beam quality degradation and optimum robustness. Smaller fibers tend to produce less degradation to beam quality but the minimum usable fiber size is limited by the quality of the laser beam, focusing optic and the numerical aperture (N.A.) of the fiber. Selection of the appropriate fiber type is an important consideration because the characteristics of the output beam will enhance or degrade the utility of the fiber optic delivered beam for different applications. The other components of the beam delivery system also impact performance: High power handling requires high quality end face surface finish and specially designed connectors that can withstand heating which comes from the absorption of spurious reflections or refractions at the fiber end faces. The fiber optic delivery system allows the laser beam to be transmitted in a small, flexible cable and is ideal when the laser beam must be delivered along a complex path or processing requires complicated manipulation of the beam delivery optics.

Fiber optic cables can be made in different lengths with different type of connectors, such as SMA905, ST or FC/PC connectors. The fibers are also available for different wavelength regions, like Deep UV solarization resistant fibers, UV/VIS fibers and VIS/NIR fibers.
We offer different shielding, like Kevlar reinforced PVC sleeving with PTFE inner tubing (standard) or metal shielding with PVC-XY or PTFE inner tubing for higher temperature and more industrial applications.
Depending on the intended wavelength range a UV/VIS (200-800 nm) or a VIS/NIR (350-2000 nm) fiber is used. In the following table replace xx by respectively UV or IR. For deep UV use specify -SR (solarization resistant).

A new fiber and termination system in the popular 62.5 µm size makes on-site crimp & cleave connectorization possible. These optical fibers are drop-in compatible with other 62.5 configurations and offer superior connector retention and performance--maximum bandwidth with minimal insertion loss. Our 62.5 µm products are rugged, easily terminated, yet still cost-effective. ST or SMA connectors can be directly crimped to the cladding. Additionally, we offer kits containing all the tools necessary to perform terminations in the field and test those connections with an Insertion Loss Test Kit.

Fibre Management
Richco has an extensive range of fibre optic products which meet the requirements of telecom and datacom applications at all levels of fibre optic equipment. Our products provide fibre optic storage, protection, transportation, and installation.
Optical fibre is the future for communications into the 21st century. However, optical fibres are vulnerable, particularly in application areas where fibre breakout is required. It is here that transient losses and dB loss can occur and cause signal failure and data errors, which is costly.
Richco’s fibre management and protection products have been designed to eliminate the potential hazards such as macro and micro bends resulting from the mishandling of optical fibres during installation, maintenance and upgrade.

In order to ensure the highest technical performance and to provide the optimum solution for a diversity of applications,
LEMO has developed four types of fibre optic contacts; designated F1, F2, F3, and F4. These contacts are designed to
operate with single fibre, multi fibre, and mixed fibre optical/electrical cable constructions and cater to single and multimode
fibres from 9/125 to 1500 µm diameter.
The choice of fibre optic contacts depends upon the following criteria:
- Cable construction (single fibre, multi fibre, mixed optical/electrical)
- Fibre type (single-mode or multi-mode).

Molex's MTP round jacketed ribbon cable assemblies provide easier installation than traditional flat ribbon cables in optical networks. System designers and installers have found it difficult to route flat ribbon cable in complex networks. The use of round ribbon cables allows the installer greater flexibility when routing multiple jacketed cables in dense system networks.
Molex developed a patented transition sleeve which maintains the routing features of the round cable while allowing the cable to be secured to the MTP connector. The primary benefit of the round ribbon cable is realized with the use of multiple ribbons within a single jacket. Stacked ribbons in traditional flat jacketed ribbon cables are prone to piston in relation to each other, causing attenuation in longer cable assemblies. The round ribbon cable prevents the "pistoning" effect by encasing the ribbons in a solid buffer core, preventing them from moving. Fiber counts up to 24 fibers are currently available while development continues on the 48 and 72 fiber versions.
