The PSSR Universal Patch and Splice Sliding Rack Mount Panel is an excellent choice for applications requiring an extremely compact and easy-to-use design. It is used to patch, or to patch and splice fibers and to provide cross-connection capability. It accommodates up to 24 connections and can use a wide variety of connector types. The panel can be installed in either a 19” or a 23” rack and occupies only 1.75” 1U of rack space. Splice trays and internal fiber management are housed in a sliding drawer that latches securely in both the open and closed positions. Jumpers can exit either to the left or right at the front of the panel.

Fiberguide has been supporting the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in taking their concepts and ideas to
market since 1977. Our staff of engineers, technical sales professionals and experienced production team unites
in developing that product specific to your individual application. We design and engineer assemblies using not
only our own pure silica core/silica clad, silica core/plastic clad fibers, but borosilicate glass fiber, ESKA™ plastic
optical fiber, fluoride fiber, chalcogenide fiber, erbium-doped fiber and polarization maintaining fiber as well.
Available with numerical apertures (N.A.’s) from 0.12 (full acceptance angle 14°) to 0.66 (full acceptance angle
82°), with the widest range of custom and standard endfittings/connectors and outer jackets to tailor a product
to your technical and economic requisites.
The definition of a fiber optic assembly is “A length of fiber optic cable that has been terminated with a connector,
pigtail or other component.” This could be a single fiber cable terminated with industry standard connectors
on both ends and jacketed in flexible sheathing, to a multi-fiber design consisting of multiple inputs and/or
outputs, each with different cross-section areas and geometries, each requiring a custom machined endfitting
and a heavy duty outer jacket to protect the assembly from being crushed.

Gore provides high performance fiber optic cables for military, aerospace and communication applications. Traditional fiber optic cables negatively affect the optical stability of a bare fiber. The Gore product line incorporates a patented expanded PTFE buffer system that effectively decouples the optical fiber from other cable elements. As a result, optical performance of a Gore cable closely approximates that of a bare optical fiber, even under mechanical or thermal stresses.
Gore is partnering with Deutsch Ltd. to distribute Deutsch Fiber Optic Connectors within the United States and Canada. Gore will continue to offer GORETM Fiber Optic Assemblies with various connector options including Deutsch connectors.

Cabelte produced the first optical cable (multimode) in Portugal, in 1983. The cable was supplied to “Instituto para Desenvolvimento das Comunicações (IDC)” for the trial connection between “IDC” and “Inesc -Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores”.
The first cables produced for commercialization, called “light guide cables”, were made of 50/125 multimode fibers, tight structure, and had 4 to 6 fibers, regular customers were the former “CTT/TLP”, today “PT Comunicações”.
The big increase occurred in the production of optical fibre cables at Cabelte takes place at the beginning of the 90s, with the construction of a new plant and with the introduction of “loose” technology.
Since then, optical fiber has become more and more important and today is one of the most important telecommunication channels, due to the characteristics of the fiber itself, particularly its low attenuation associated with an almost infinite bandwidth (single mode fibers), and to the development occurred in the optical transmission systems.
Today, optical fiber cables are part of all communication “backbones” in metropolitan and regional networks. The presence of “triple pay” services, interactive games, high definition television, telemedicine, among others, requiring a high bandwidth in the access network, foresee the gradual replacement of copper by fiber optics up to the subscriber.

An international standard, SERCOS is an acronym for SErial Realtime COmmunications System, a digital motion control bus that interconnects motion controls, drives, I/Os, sensors and actuators for numerically controlled machines and systems. It is an open controller-to-intelligent digital device interface, designed for high-speed serial communication of standardized closed-loop real-time data over a noise-immune, fiber optic ring (SERCOS l & ll) or Industrial Ethernet cable (SERCOS lll).
The SERCOS interface offers more than 500 standardized parameters that describe the interaction of drives and controls in terms independent of any manufacturer. This rich instruction set provides for communication of commands, parameters, status, and diagnostics, handing many different types of systems. SERCOS also includes features for I/0 control that often allow a machine builder to dispense with the need for a separate I/0 bus.
The SERCOS interface greatly reduces connectivity problems in control systems. It can connect up to 254 drives to a control using one fiber optic cable ring or a single daisy-chained Industrial Ethernet cable. A comparable traditional analog servo system with 8 axes of motion may require over 100 wires between the drive and control.
