Vrieco-Nauta vacuum dryers were developed from the already successful conical screw mixer line. The superior mixing quality of the Vrieco-Nauta mixers is utilized to efficiently present fresh product to the heated surface area. Heat is transferred into the product through a jacketed vessel wall causing solvents or moisture residues to evaporate. The entire vessel is run under vacuum to further aid in moisture removal by lowering the saturated vapor pressure.

Whether the product is a wet powder or a slurry, specially designed feeders transfer the product into the dispersion section of the dryer. A high speed rotor disperses the product in the drying zone. An induced hot gas stream as high as 600 °C provides the energy for instantaneous evaporation of the moisture within the feed material. Evaporation capacity of the largest unit is over 6000 kg/hr. Dried particles enter the classifying zone at the top of the dryer and fine de-agglomerated particles leave the dryer outlet to be collected down stream. Coarse particles are rejected by the classifier and are returned to the dispersion zone for further processing.

Efficient drying, cleaning or cooling of products transported on a conveyor belt is often difficult. Compressed air is still often used in this respect. An air knife is effective and efficient. The laminar (uniform) sheet of air is projected along the entire length of the air knife to provide an air flow that covers the entire surface of the product. Air Knife Systems from EXAIR have small profiles, are manufactured in various lengths and can be mounted to accommodate many industrial applications involving conveyors and webs, even in tight spaces. Whether your goal is to remove dust and contaminants, cool hot parts or blow off excess oil, water and liquids, the air knife is also energy efficient. By entraining high volumes of room air they use less compressed air and less energy than other blow off products.
