ACI Air knife Systems are a cleaning, drying and cooling device used in both manufacturing and other processes. By creating a high intensity, balanced sheet of laminar airflow across the entire length of a component, an air knife has the ability to clean, dry or cool components, webs and conveyors..
The number of manufacturing applications suitable for air knives is bewildering. Typically they are used for cleaning, drying and cooling any type of surface ranging from cans and bottles to textiles and extrusions.
Examples:
• Removing residue water from bottles and cans prior to product labelling, ink jet coding and packing operations.
• In conveying systems air knives are used on continuously produced parts or products. In the Cement Industry ACI air knives can be used to remove dust and gravel from the conveyor. Rubber extrusion used in making seals for car doors and windows require a dip in hot salt potassium nitrate to give it a gloss. An air knife can be used to blow off the excess salt to restore the gloss.
• They can be used to remove viscous contaminants from a surface. Cutting oil used in the production of threaded metal rods can be blown away by an air knife.

The air knives are used on the production lines to eliminate quickly and economically the impurities or moisture from the products manufactured and treated on these lines. One still often uses the compressed air for this purpose. Among all the uses of the compressed air, most ineffective is however blowing. There are two products ranges: MM-H and MM-HR
MM-H SERIES
Specially conceived for drying processes in which a big air volume and a thermal difference not superior to approximately 30ºC is needed.
MM-HR SERIES
It is similar to MM-H series, but the air aspiration is placed on the opposite site of the air outlet.
The equipments can be made in 3 positions according to the installation that must be carried out.
The main features are:
-Heating gas oil, natural gas or liquefied petroleum gases operation.
-Combustion oven with a performance of 90%

Dryers are fabricated from stainless steel material, insulated with fiberglass insulation and covered with a light gauge stainless steel skin. These dryers can be heated by steam or electricity depending on plant conditions. Vrieco-Nauta vacuum dryers were developed from the already successful conical screw mixer line. The superior mixing quality of the Vrieco-Nauta mixers is utilized to efficiently present fresh product to the heated surface area. Heat is transferred into the product through a jacketed vessel wall causing solvents or moisture residues to evaporate. The entire vessel is run under vacuum to further aid in moisture removal by lowering the saturated vapor pressure.

Whether the product is a wet powder or a slurry, specially designed feeders transfer the product into the dispersion section of the dryer. A high speed rotor disperses the product in the drying zone. An induced hot gas stream as high as 600 °C provides the energy for instantaneous evaporation of the moisture within the feed material. Evaporation capacity of the largest unit is over 6000 kg/hr. Dried particles enter the classifying zone at the top of the dryer and fine de-agglomerated particles leave the dryer outlet to be collected down stream. Coarse particles are rejected by the classifier and are returned to the dispersion zone for further processing.
