The high performance NIR InGaAs spectrometers use a linear photo diode array detector with 512 pixels (1024 optional) to provide maximum sensitivity. The NIR InGaAs spectrometers use single strand SMA-905 fiber optic input. Several models provide a variety of operational ranges and resolutions suitable for both spectroscopy and optical spectrum analysis. NIR applications include chemical ID and moisture analysis, SpectroRadiometry and optical power measurements, laser characterization, microsensor applications, and thicker thin-film measurements.

BaySpec’s Super GamutTM series VIS and NIR spectral engines are designed to meet real-world challenges for best-in-class performance, long-term reliability, compact size and ultra-low power consumption. Benefiting from experience manufacturing high-volume optical channel performance monitoring devices for the telecommunications industry, BaySpec’s VIS and NIR spectral devices utilize low-cost field proven components. For the first time in instrumentation history an affordable, accurate and ruggedized spectral device is a reality.
The Super GamutTMSeries employs a highly efficient Volume Phase Grating (VPG) as the spectral dispersion element and an ultra sensitive InGaAs array detector as the detection element, thereby providing high-speed parallel processing and continuous spectrum measurements. As an input, the device uses a fiber optic input or slit optics arrangement based on customer preferences. The signal is spectrally dispersed with the VPG and the diffracted field is focused onto an InGaAs array detector. The control electronics read out the processed digital signal to extract required information. Both the raw data and the processed data are available to the host.
Key Features:
- Real-time spectral data acquisition with fast milli-sec response time
- Athermal design for ultra-low power consumption and improved reliability
- Hermetic-sealing ensures reliable operation in harsh environments
- Operates over wide -10 to +60 deg C temperature range
- Operates in high +85% relative humidity environments
- Covers wavelength ranges from 300-2500 nm
- Designed for field battery use operation

NIR Sensors use Near Infrared energy to make direct measurements of specific constituents or components of products during processing. They operate on the principal that certain wavelengths of NIR energy are selectively absorbed by these constituents.
NDC Infrared Engineering manufactures a whole range of NIR Sensors which use three principle configurations:
. Backscatter (or Diffuse Reflection)
. Transmission and Forward Scatter (or Diffuse Transmission)
. Specular Reflection
Each configuration lends itself to particular products to offer a no-compromise measurement solution.
The advantage of NIR measurement technology is that it is completely safe, with extremely low energy levels in a safe area of the electromagnetic spectrum. This means that no special shielding is required nor any licensing or special safety training for operators.

The award winning MATRIX™-F is a new generation of Fourier Transform Near Infrared (FT-NIR) spectrometer. It is the first industry hardened FT-NIR system that can directly withstand harsh environments. This instrument incorporates state-of-the-art optics for outstanding sensitivity and stability, in a compact package. Its innovative design provides consistent high quality results, less downtime, direct methods transfer and the possibility of new applications that less sensitive and precise instruments are incapable of. In addition, the same instrument can go directly from the lab to the factory, eliminating the need for a new instrument when your method is ready for integration into your process control system. Full support of industry standard communication protocols make integration simple.
MATRIX™-F is the complete solution for all your process FT-NIR needs, from Raw Material Identification to Quality Control of your finished products. Utilizing the built-in and external multiplexer options up to 48 reactions can be monitored by a single instrument. A wide range of probe adaptations are available for determining analytic concentrations in liquid and emulsions in addition to powders and pellets.
The MATRIX™-F is also at home in the laboratory. It can be used as a standalone system for method development and then move directly into your process application. The MATRIX™-F and its peripherals are individually enclosed modules designed to easily fit into standard 19 inch racks and enclosures. This allows you to completely customize your process control system, as the modules can be used as standalone units or mounted within a single enclosure.
