Ultra high output, multiple shear plate vibration transducer. Shear plate
construction provides near total isolation from mechanical inputs other than acceleration, thus safeguarding measurement integrity in applications where vibration is accompanied by high dynamic strain levels.
Generalising, these conditions are prevalent where modal frequencies are low, and are thus associated with vibration surveys of large structures.
Transducers exhibiting significant strain response may operate more akin to strain gauges at low frequency excitation and their use is thus to be discouraged ! System noise level of 10-3pC is equivalent to 1µg.
This should be realizable with bandwidth restricted to 1kHz.

Dytran Instruments Inc. has just introduced an ultra miniature IEPE accelerometer with titanium housing. Weighing in at just 0.2 grams, this miniature accelerometer successfully reduces mass loading effects. Because of its tiny "teardrop" design, the 3224A2 is ideal for vibration measurements in even the smallest locations.
Model 3224A2 is laser welded in a titanium housing which ensures its robust construction and contributes to its lightweight. The model 3224A2 is available with a sensitivity of 2mV/g and can operate at temperatures up to 300°F. It features integrated electronics, an adhesive mount and a planar shear, quartz design which reduces base strain sensitivity, thermal transient response and thermal coefficient of sensitivity.
Key Features
• Ultra miniature design
• 2mV/g sensitivity
• 0.2 grams
• Integral cable
• Adhesive mount
• High temperature
• IEPE
Potential Applications
• Environmental Stress Screening
• PC board vibration measurements
• Product response
• General purpose vibration where space is at a premium

This ultra small vibration transducer (0.25 gram!)provides
virtual transparency applied to lightweight
structures, allied to relative freedom from strain
induced error. The reliability and performance
criteria applied to our transducers generally,
welded electrical connections and case seal, are
fully implemented in the construction of the
A/28/E.
Signal outlet is via a
surface contact socket.
A 0.8mm dia. softline cable is available
specifically for the A/28/E.
|
|
Micro-miniature triaxial vibration transducer comprising three shear plate. A/28/E inserts bonded orthogonally into a hard anodised aluminium housing.
The inserts are electrically insulated, individually and from the housing, thus
eliminating ground loop interference. The additional mechanical isolation implicit in the construction provides also near elimination of strain induced error.
The spatial response of a structure to dynamic forcing may lead to erroneous single axis vibration or shock measurement, due to the
inherent directional property of the transducer.
In cases where this is deemed to be a problem, an orthogonal three axis measurement, allowing computation of absolute value and direction offers a solution.

A three variant range of low mass (2gm.)
accelerometers, each with KONIC sensing
element, welded construction, miniature (3.5mm
thd.) side or top entry coaxial connector, and
titanium case. The two adhesive mount versions
(A/124/E, A/124/TE), are provided with bonded
isolation discs to minimise ground loop
interference, whilst the top entry connector
version (A/124/TS) is also available with integral
mounting stud but without isolation.

Sub-miniature, all welded, KONIC sensing element based vibration transducer. The low mass of the A/25/E renders it transparent in the vast majority of lightweight structure vibration measurement applications.
The A/25/E is adhesive mounted. A detachment tool is provided to shear adhesive joints. Shock removal is to be avoided as being deletorious to
the integrity of the transducer.
Abrasive cleaning of the attachment face will reduce base thickness over time, sparing use of adhesive will aid longevity. Signal outlet is via a surface contact socket. Mating connector preload torque should be 7cNm, the locknut tightened to 12cNm for signal integrity to 10,000g. Insufficient preload may result in intermittent signal loss.

Include modal analysis of lightweight structures and shock measurement. Low frequency multi point modal measurements are subject to
individual phase/gain errors associated with the lower corner frequency of the QVC.
The ratiometric nature of modal analysis however reduces transfer function uncertainty to the associated lower corner frequency variations of individual QVCs.

Lightweight triaxial vibration transducer comprising three KONIC all welded inserts, each with hybrid QVC, bonded orthogonally into a hard anodised aluminium housing. The inserts are electrically insulated, individually
and from the housing, thus eliminating ground loop interference. Low impedance O/P provides a high degree of noise immunity (80dB
improvement vs. equiv. charge source device @ 50Hz) and allows use with low cost coaxialcable.
The additional mechanical isolation implicit in the construction provides also near elimination of strain induced error. All the 3x10/32 Microdot connectors are exiting in the same direction.
The spatial response of a structure to dynamic forcing, may lead to erroneous single axis vibration or shock measurement due to the
inherent directional property of the transducer.

Highest sensitivity multiple shear plate vibration transducer, intended for micro g level measurement. Virtual immunity to strain input side effects provides guarantee of low frequency measurement integrity. System noise
level of 10-2pC is equivalent to 1mg. With bandwidth restricted to 2kHz, 1 octave below resonance, noise floor should be significantly below this.
Noise level vs. upper corner frequency for the CA/04/N charge amplifier, A/800 source and nominal l0Mtr. cable is shown in Fig.1. Bear in mind that charge amplifier noise increases as a function of input capacitance - noise
assessment should be made with the charge amplifier input correctly terminated.
The transducer adds mass at its point of attachment to a structure, thus imposes a transparency constraint above which data corruption will be excessive.
