Ondrives Ltd of Chesterfield make their own range of miniature rack and pinion actuator boxes from their manufacturing facility in the heart of the UK, Chesterfield.
The boxes are manufactured from a hard anodised aluminium (their signature red colour) housing with high carbon steel rack and pinions. There are five different sizes available as standard, all with average backlash of 2 º. Length of travel starts at just 10mm going up to 30mm as standard, with special lengths or travel available on request. All are greased for life with Shell Nerita Grease HV.
With uutput shaft diameters starting at 6mm to 20mm, and inputs range from 5mm to 15mm, there is sure to be something to suit everyone’s requirements, the company states. For bigger and longer actuation (up to 500mm rack), this can be accommodated with the Drylin range of TS & TW linear rails featured in the linear motion section of the Ondrives catalogue.

Spur Gears
A new range of 20° PA. spur gears all manufactured in medium carbon steel, provide selection from 1 Mod. through to 6 Mod. pitch with gears from 12 teeth to 120 teeth. Gears have face width equal to ten times Mod. number to provide sensible power transmission capability. To supplement the steel gears is a select range of cast iron wheels covering pitch range 2 Mod. to 5 Mod.with 30 to 60 tooth size.
Straight Racks
Available in standard lengths of 05, 1.0 and 2.0 metres is a range of 20° PA straight cut racks with pitch range 1 Mod. to 6 Mod. These are designed to combine with the standard spur gears to provide low cost conversion of rotary to linear motion.

Modular Rack & Pinion System
The Modular Rack & Pinion System is the primary building block of a linear axis drive. This system consists of a standard range of straight (spur), circumferential pitch, and helical racks and pinions. The modular design permits rack segment lengths from 0.5 to 2 meters to be linked together end to end achieving any desired travel length from standard components.
Racks and pinions are available with different materials, heat treatments and quality levels to insure the correct balance of power, precision and price to meet the application requirements.

More than 10 years ago, our company detected the need to produce higher quantity of them for specific industrial fields and to automate gates and windows.
As a result of the investments made in this section, we have become leaders in the spanish market producing more than 200.000 meters a year, accomplishing the highest capacity of automatic rack-milling without joins (4.000 mm), 1 to 30 mm module and a manufacturing tolerance of IT 6/7 (<0.002 mm each pitch meter)

The linear module POWER-LINE MLT500 consist in self-supporting modules which enable a very easy and quick installation with low costs.
They are made of solid light alloy profile with four-rows linear guideways.
The movement is activated through hardened steel made rack and pinion: high positioning precision and safe displacement of the trolley are ensured.
Replaceable oil cartridges on the guideways (optionals) allow long lasting and low maintenance.
