DYNAMIC SEALING
External or Internal Interactive Sealing Solutions
Unlike static seals, APM's custom molded dynamic elastomeric professional seals are designed to transmit mechanical energy, either internally or externally applied, depending on your application and environmental challenges. They flex and move without degradation or sealing compromise. Please submit your design requirements and we'll rapidly respond with a cost-effective solution and quote. |

General Information
HTMS Metal- C-Ring professional seals are made from high temperature alloy strip. The strip is cut to the required length and tig welded. The C-shape is then formed in a tool or is roll formed for bigger sizes. HTMS Metal C Rings are a logical development over our popular Metal O Ring. Metal C Rings have a better spring back then same size Metal O Rings. The seating load or the required bolting force is lower than for similar sized Metal O Rings. HTMS Metal C Rings will compensate greater flange rotation and maintain positive sealing load, better than Metal O Rings.
For sealing thin gas or low viscosity fluids, HTMS recommend to soft plate the bare metal seal with such materials as silver, gold or tin. Also PTFE as a coating is available.
For extreme low leakage requirements at elevated temperatures HTMS also produces spring energized metal C Rings. This CS design is basically a metal C Ring with an inserted high tensile spring.
Metal C Ring availability
- From 6 mm to +3000 mm diameter
- Cross section from 0, 89 mm to 12, 7 mm
- In house plating, Silver, Gold, Tin and others
- Spring energized versions for extreme tightness
- Available in shaped forms
- For internal or external pressure
Metal C Rings capability
- Temperatures from cryogenic (- 270°C) up to high temperatures (+ 900°C)
- Ultra hard vacuum and pressures op to +300Mpa
- High pressure capability
- Lowest leak rate
- Radiation resistant

General Information
HTMS Metal- O-Ring professional seals are made from high precision metal tube. Contrary to flat gaskets, HTMS Metal-O- Rings require extreme low bolting load. Because they feature a certain resiliency or spring back, HTMS Metal O Rings will compensate minor flange rotation and maintain positive sealing load to the sealing surface.
For sealing thin gas or low viscosity fluids, HTMS recommend to soft plate the bare metal seal with such materials as silver, gold or tin. Also PTFE as a coating is available.
HTMS Metal O Rings are made for internal or external pressure. For high pressure application HTMS advises vented or system pressure assisted Metal O Rings.
For extreme low leakage requirements at elevated temperatures HTMS also produces spring energized metal O Rings. This OS design is basically a metal O Ring with an inserted high tensile spring.
Metal O Ring availability
- From 6 mm to +3000 mm diameter
- Cross section from 0, 89 mm to 12, 7 mm
- In house plating, Silver, Gold, Tin and others
- Spring energized versions for extreme tightness
- Available in shaped forms
- For internal or external pressure
Metal O-Rings capability
- Temperatures from cryogenic (- 270°C) up to high temperatures (+ 900°C)
- Ultra hard vacuum and pressures op to +300Mpa
- Handles hydrogen gas up to non- Newtonian fluids
- Moderate pressure capability
- Lowest leak rate
- Radiation resistant

Suppliers of mechanical seals are used for the sealing of rotating shafts against a stationary housing, e.g. in pumps and agitators. The stationary" part of the seal is usually located at the housing, the rotating" part is fixed on the shaft. The high-precision face-machined sliding faces rotate axially in opposition. The sliding faces are pressed against each other by means of spring force, thus preventing the opening of the seal. The seal faces are statically sealed against the housing and the shaft by secondary professional seals (O-rings). With the entry of the pumped medium into the minimal sealing gap a lubricating film is generated and the sealing effect is thus obtained.
The design, arrangement and combination of materials of the seal is basically determined by pressure, temperature, speed of rotation and quality of the pumped medium. Shaft diameters of 5...500 mm, pressures from 10 torr ....250 bar, temperatures from -200°C... +450°C and sliding velocities up to 150 m/s limit the operating range of mechanical seals. Additional seal supply systems or buffer fluid systems may be required, dependent on the mode of operation, the quality of the medium and the seal arrangement.

OmniSealŽ type Raco is a spring energized PTFE professional seal, specially designed for cryogenic sealing conditions (-260°C). The full circle, heavy load metal spring, pre-loads the seal lips uniformly.
With lower load springs, this design is also the best for high temperature applications (+300°C). |

The design features are single industrial seal, unbalance, independent of the direction of retation, single spring and elastomer bellows. The bellows is not subjected to any torsional stress and its ingenious design incorporates several functions, as seal face carrier, secondary sealing element and drive collar. The seal face is driven through the spring and L-rings. There are not bonded joints and all the face materials are interchangeable without having to modify any dimensions. Highly recommended for duties with media containing solids e.g. in waste water and sewage applications.

| The Labyrinth seal is an effective barrier against water and other contaminants that destroy professional bearings. Non-contacting rotary and stationary elements provide a restricted flow path and utilize centrifugal force and gravity to prevent intrusion of contaminants into the bearing chamber. Unlike common lip seals, the Labyrinth Industrial seal will not damage shafts and has a virtually unlimited life. |

These professional seals are designed to operate with tube industrial testing machines that repeatedly seal and release the steel tube ends as part of the hydrostatic testing process. The quality of the seals used is a crucial factor in the reliability of such machines, and therefore our tube test seals offer the highest professional levels of performance.
Manufactured from high tensile, impact resistant polyurethane, they provide excellent wear resistance and can operature at high or low pressures. They incorporate a special lip professional profile to enable tube entry without seal damage. |

| Broad chemical resistance, except against liquid alkaline metals and fluorine gas under pressure. Good sliding qualities, low wear and tear. Temperature range from -200 °C to +260°C. PTFE has hardness of approximately 95 °Shore and installing these O-rings in split grooves is recommended or alternatively the use slit or sheathed types due to the low elasticity. |
