Starting up plant and machines from cold is considerably easier when the oil in the tank has been pre-heated to a set minimum temperature. Adding a electric-flow heater in a bypass coolerfilter system solves the problem of pre-heating the oil and prevents damage to the hydraulic system caused by excessive start-up pressure. Conversely, a heating rod built into the tank has the disadvantage that the oil volume in the tank is not clearly defined as it flows around the heating rod.
With the electric-flow heater (i.e. the oil pre-heater), the oil flow is controlled and the heating capacity can thus be calculated and
controlled precisely.
