Your suggestions for improvement:

A current, or Foucault probe is a transducer which measures current, or a defect-detection instrument used for nondestructive testing.
ApplicationsThese instruments are used by electricians to inspect electrical installations and machinery. Eddy current probes are used in mechanical construction workshops, in the field of aeronautics, in petrochemistry, in the nuclear industry and in the automobile industry for structural and component testing.
TechnologiesSuch probes often consist of toroids surrounding a conductor, or as clamps or flexible rings that can be opened and closed around the conductor. They can be autonomous (ammeter clamps) or require connection to a measuring device. They use a Hall element sensitive to the magnetic field induced by the DC or AC current. Closed-circuit compensated probes are more precise and feature wider bandwidth than open-circuit probes.
These devices are used to inspect metal parts for structural deficiencies. A crack or a discontinuity is detected because it disturbs the eddy currents induced by the probe. Depending on the employed frequency, one can inspect the part at its surface or in depth, for example for controlling welds or sheet metal thickness.
Current probes are characterized by measurement range. They are portable of installed fixed upon a conductor. Configuration and inspection type vary with model.
